MICR Toner
Did You Know?
Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) technology was invented in the 1950s, and has allowed financial institutions to streamline their check processing. The characters are printed with special MICR Fonts and are known as MICR Characters, which must be printed with MICR Toner or MICR Ink. It is the combination of Toner and Fonts that create the machine-readable MICR line. MICR Toner is the element that adds the magnetic readability to each character, allowing for high-speed check clearing.
When a document that contains this ink needs to be read, it passes through a machine, which magnetizes the ink and then translates the magnetic information into characters. The numeric line is printed with MICR ink or toner and will usually represent check transaction details such as Bank Sort Code and/or Branch ID number, Check number and Account number.
B2B Toner offers the highest quality compatible MICR toners, at a fraction of the OEM (original manufacturer) cost.
